Let your visitor make their mark in the museum. Even the simplest poll can ensure visitors are not just a passive audience but active participants. Ideally this means other visitors can see how others have voted.

The “Button Poll” is a low cost idea Tom came up with himself and has used at Fort Edmonton Park, Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, and the Mangawhai Museum. Use it for questions that have no “right answer” and both children and adults will participate. Little kids have been know to “ballot stuff” so don’t place too much confidence in your results! The point is to ensure your visitor starts or continues their journey as a participant and not just an audience.
